The first of a fleet of five warships being built on the Clyde has been formally named HMS Forth.
A bottle of Deanston 12-year-old malt was broken over the bow of the 90-metre Offshore Patrol Vessel in a ceremony at BAE Systems' Scotstoun yard.
Lawson Modelmakers are proud to have been associated with this project for several years.

Lawson Modelmakers added 9 new photos to the album: XM813 Bushmaster Chain Gun.

Another full size cannon model. This one demonstartes the linkless feed capablities of the MK44 cannon. This particular model was 3.5 meters long and almost 2 metres wide.

These dummy weapons are proving invaluable tools to our customers. There is no need for firearms licences or certificates, because the models are lighter and pack down into a more compact stae, they save on shipping costs, and most importantly, they do not need to take a stock product off sale to display it.

This particular contract has been part of our lives for some years now. We made a model of the first concept as long ago as 2005 and since then have made 4 variants. Good to see first of class has now been launched at the Daewoo yard in South Korea. Many objected to the fact that such an order would be placed outside of the UK, but no UK yard would bid for the contract as they were all busy with other major ship projects such as Type 45 and QE Class carrier. However, as an offset, approximately 1/3 of the contract value will be carried out in the UK when the vessels are fitted out with their associated military hardware.

5 years ago this month, Lawson Modelmakers completed one of their most challenging projects; a turbine blade sculpture and a turbine core model.

These were part of a project we completed for Siemens Industrial Gas Turbines as part of a new executive office and reception complex at their Lincoln site.

The blade was several times life size and stood on a pedestal outside the new office buildings.

Inside reception was a twice life size turbine core model. Without a doubt, two of our most challenging models.

The images showing the blade arriving on the truck and being craned into position help to give a clue as to the size.
